CO oxidation FCC additives

Combustion promoters are required to ensure smooth regenerator operation, control of afterburning and reduction of CO emissions. Afterburning occurs when carbon monoxide reacts exothermically with oxygen in the regenerator dilute phase. Because of the lack of catalyst to absorb the heat of CO combustion the dilute phase experiences a large increase in temperature – the most common constraint in FCC unit operations. A CO promoter is be used to accelerate this reaction in the regenerator dense phase (catalyst bed) where the heat of reaction is readily absorbed by catalyst particles leading to much lower temperature rises.

COB-1 Platinum system CO combustion improver is a kind of additive that is used in catalytic cracking process in refineries. Its function is converting the carbon monoxide generated in the regenerator into carbon dioxide, reducing the carbon content of the regenerant , maintaining the activity of the catalyst, improving the regeneration effect of the catalyst, recycling this part of the heat meantime. For energy conservation, operation smoothly, increasing light oil yield, reducing environmental pollution plays a better economic and social benefits.

Notes:
(1) The products can be used in riser catalytic cracking units with low heat and need to inject combustion oil to add heat or low regeneration temperature and higher carbon content of regenerant.
(2) The products can be sent to the regenerator through the small feeding pipeline.
(3) you can choose CO complete combustion or partial combustion operating instruction according to the thermal balance of the device. During complete combustion, the amount of combustion improver is equal to 0.5ppm platinum in the total catalyst of the device. Partial combustion , the amount of combustion improver should be lower than this number, and should be added smaller amount each time.
(4) In order to maintain complete or partial combustion of CO, combustion improver should be regularly added to the regenerator through small feeding pipelines.
(5) The degree of CO combustion in the regenerator can be controlled by the addition of products and the amount of regenerated air. Partial combustion not only controls the addition of combustion improver, but also controls the amount of recycled air strictly.
(6) The CO combustion can be expressed by the CO and CO2 content in the regenerated gas, dense bed temperature in regenerator and temperature differences of dilute dense phase.
(7) Increased amount of mixed heavy oil in the catalytic cracking unit and the usage of other additives (such as metal passivator) will have an adverse effect on the activity of the combustion improver. So it is necessary to pay attention to the regeneration status of the catalyst and adjust the amount of combustion improver timely.
(8) you can choose combustion improver according to the regeneration mode of FCC catalyst and the conditions of the unit. Package: drums lined with plastic bags or according to customers’ requirement.
