Iron Catalysts Are Widely Used In Ammonia Synthesis Production
Ammonia synthesis catalysts mainly refer to iron catalysts. Its main function is to reduce the activation energy of the reaction, making it easier for N2 and H2 to react to generate NH3, and to speed up the reaction speed.

The iron catalyst facilitates the adsorption of N2 and H2 onto its surface, where the covalent bond between the gas molecules is weakened, resembling atomic interactions. Subsequently, nitrogen and hydrogen atoms on the iron surface undergo a combination process, leading to the formation of NH3.

The iron catalyst is crucial in the ammonia synthesis industry, with its peak activity occurring at 500°C. This temperature serves as a key factor in selecting 500°C as the preferred operating condition for the ammonia synthesis reaction.
